Connecting to your Web Site

Macromedia Contribute may be used to connect to regular web sites via a Connection Key or to

connect to HTML content in a Succeed module via WebDAV. For help with this latter topic, please

Setting up a Connection using a Contribute Key

The first time you use Contribute, you will need to set up a connection to the web site. To do this

you will need a Contribute Key and a Password to unlock that Contribute key. The Contribute Key

contains the location of the site, information on what pages you are allowed to edit within the site,

as well as detailing exactly what elements you are allowed to edit or add. The Password enables

Contribute to extract that information and create your connection.

Note: The Contribute key also contains, in an encrypted format, the account details required to

publish pages back to the web site. These account details are those used by the site administrator to

access the web site, so if this user changes their password, the details stored in the Contribute key

will no longer match. This will prevent you from editing or publishing pages. If you have problems

editing or publishing pages, you should contact your site administrator.
